Hey Bra, Got Some Stem Cells?

Stem cells hold great promise in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries and cardiac tissue regeneration. Given their vast potential, how could they best be put to use? Wired.com has a report on the use of stem cells for breast augmentation and other cosmetic reasons. I can see how stem cell based therapies are justified for burn victims and women who have had a mastectomy. As for those simply seeking bigger boobs, forget about it...

People demanding new technology for elective procedures may be just what we need to get stem cell research accepted in the mainstream. Let Beverly Hills plastic surgeons lead the way if they want to. If you've ever watched Nip/Tuck you have seen that they are performing unimaginable procedures already.

More uses, more interest, more funding for research. I am totally for Stem Cell research and hope that it can go far in the next 20 years before I need them.

There are multiple sides to everything. Having bigger boobs is not really a bad side-effect, so why not?

You guys make a good point. Yes, a motivation for funding is great. I just wonder if that funding should be directed towards cures for more pressing problems as I mentioned prior. It's sad if cosmetic reasons kick start such studies.
