Sleepytime for Everyone, But Me.

Good God. It's 3:30 AM and I still can't sleep. I tried laying in bed for the past couple hours. The result -- I'm still awake and have developed a massive headache. This is unlike most days, where I can fall asleep for a couple of hours, wake up for a couple more,fall asleep for another two,then start my day. I think I'm gonna start sleeping with a plastic bag conveniently wrapped around my head. The oxygen deprivation has gotta do wonders for my insomnia.

UPDATE: It's 4 AM. The plastic bag isn't working...

I was wondering why the hell I got a comment from you at this hour. But it made me smile. I always love comments from THEE Vavoom! I never sleep, but I've yet to try the bag thing. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm a night person working a day job. In Civilian World I usually don't hit the rack until 5 AM or later. Now I get up at 5 AM. Blah!!

emmm... the bag reminds me more of autoeroticasphyxiation, but anyways.

I was an insomniac for years. My best advice lay on your back, close your eyes, and begin counting with each breathe you take.

So, when you breathe in it's one, you breathe out it's two, so remember to keep all your breathes in odd, and all your breathes out even... eventually your mind will go so numb from that you probably won't make it past 150. If you forget which number you re on then start over.

It works for me!

I have learned to function on about 4 hours of sleep, but some nights you need more. Tylenol Simply Sleep helps some nights, or a glass of red wine...

I'm with Megan one glass of red wine helps. A whole bottle also helps but the hangover in the morning is not worth it.

Woah, Alice has experience with autoeroticasphyxiation? B) Anyhow, my usual cure is either a beer or taking Thera-Flu. But then again, I rarely have trouble falling asleep.

Damn. I would have responded sooner, but I was sleeping. Nothing like a solid 9 hours of sleep to make you well rested.

I am new here, but I wanted to offer my suggestion. I know it is often seen as a weakness to admit, but have you considered therapy? My mind used to race everynight when I worried about this thing or that, meaning I could only fall asleep when I was exhausted and would awake not long after. After learning how to deal with my worry I was able to sleep better. That is just my suggestion, hopefully it helps.

all I can say is FNPhD you suck! lol, I'm kiddin.

But I had insomnia a few years back, thankfully that time passed. But now I sleep very little due to a hectic schedule I currently have.

But Vavoom, I thought I told you... dude, just drink whiskey, vodka, wine, some alcohol and it will help. If a little doesn't help, continue drinking, you will sleep guaranteed.

The counting the alice said also tends to work, count breaths, sheeps, whatever you like. But that helps to keep your mind concentrated on something else besides the usual problems.

Now follow the advices and I dont want to hear anymore complaining about this, do I make myself clear?? :)

Xenia: Welcome. Trust me, I've tried everything along those lines. Even hypnosis. There's nothing weak about therapy. I can gladly admit that I've tried that.
danilo/megan/rattie: Yeah, I've tried booze. See, ususally I get headaches too. The booze doesn't help that. Maybe I'll try booze again...
alice: I've tried all the meditation/breathing stuff. I'm thinking of going to see a doctor. There's gotta be some nice medicines on the market.

ok vavoom, sorry, i didnt know... Keep trying the plastic bag, but get one of those with a whole bunch of holes in them, jus so u might pass out, nothing more.

Im kiddin by the way! Check also (if it still exists..). I tried it and theres a whole bunch of info for insomniacs

Hmm . . . it seems we have the same sleeping patterns. Instead of trying to fight it I usually just knock out a novel or two when I get the chance. The only problem is that I don't want to stop when it's finally time for me to get out of bed.
