Muslims Step Up.

I doubt any of you really believe all Muslims are bad people. As for people asking moderate Muslims to step up, here's a real feel good story.

Only racists categorize an
entire group as "bad people".
There are probably Muslim
"feel good" stories in America
also but I haven't come across
any in the main stream media.
The main stream media seems to
want to strictly depict Muslim
"terrorists".

I think Americans will have a similar reaction to Muslims the way many Americans did to Germans and Japanese in the 40's and 50's. I know of many people who still won't buy a Mitsubishi ( they made the Japanese Zero plane ) or a Volkswagen ( manufactured by Germany, ordered by Hitler ).

It will take time to heal a lot of this, much like it will take time for many people to trust Christians because Christians are associated with swindlers like Robert Tilton etc.

Here's a good article (albeit a bit dated) on this subject.

I may be naive, but I would like to think this would be the norm.

Friedman's opinion on the role of the Muslim world in light of the London bombings.

Actually, I don't like the term "moderate Muslim". The term insinuates that these Muslims are less Muslim or less religious or less fervant than the rest. Perhaps "orthodox Muslim" is better..

Vavoom, kind deeds happen(d) throughout time. Jews were helped by Christians and Muslims help the Americans all the time in Iraq and Afghan. Moose, it is the norm. Some people are just plain ignorant and see with blinders. I agree with the Mentally Challenged and Jeff.

I'm not surprised by this at all--yet it was heartwarming to read about. Good and evil exists everywhere, in every culture.

Sorry, I don't have time to read the story, but based off of this, "I doubt any of you really believe all Muslims are bad people" I feel like....

I don't think all of anybody or anything is bad. If someone is bad, it's because THEY are bad. Not because they are Muslim or black or white and so on. If someone can't see that when someone is bad because THEY are and wants to view it as 'it's because they're white' or 'it's because they're Muslim,' etc., then I would view that person as racist. Close minds can't see what's right in front of them.

I think a big reason for division is that a lot of people stick to living in a black and white world. They don't want to say there are good and bad apples but all apples are bad if one is (toss them all if one is bad.) And there are those that see all Mormons, Middle Easterners, Born Again Christians, Republicans, Democrats, lawyers, bankers and politicians as evil and corrupt because just a few bad examples.

Remember when they got rid of red M&M's because a cancer scare about the dye used? At least they were smart enough to know that the other ones weren't bad.
