Starts With A C, Ends with A P.

I just finished giving a 2 hour talk to a room full of 100 people. I was up all night preparing. God, I'm so tired. I feel like crap. Need sleep. Unfortunately, I need to stay at work and get some data. Bigshot is coming back into town and I need to complete my proof that the experiment is off the ground.

What do you folks do when you have to work and you're dead tired? Coffee -- I've tried that. Speed -- no thanks.

I usually alternate coffee and Mountain Dew. I feel like absolute shit the next day, but the alternating caffeine/caffiene+sugar rushes really help.

Also, go eat a burger or something. Not a ton of food, but just some protein. Studying or working on an empty stomach sucks.

I find that ritually drinking anything works. Every few minutes I take sips of water. Also chewing - gum, crackers, candy. Anything that doesn't require my concentration but keeps me busy doing something repetetive. Also standing up and doing toe touches or walking around the room when I feel really tired. But the bad thing is that as I get more tired, I seem to have less control over what I say or type - like I am in a half dream and I start to spew gibberish. That is when I walk. Good luck. Hopefully tomorrow you will get more of that lovely 8 hrs of sleep!

I would Listen to some upbeat music and eat chocolate. Chocolate makes everything better :)

Dude, I don't know I am still trying to get past the fact that you spoke in front of 100 people. That amazes me...I respect people who can do that. I'd faint, barf or both if I had to talk in front of a group.

I'm a fan of that Rockstar drink right now. I'm not one for caffeine though so otherwise, the power-nap is a good idea, light non-carbohydrate (unless you are going for the sugar high) meals and music that scares you (adrenaline is free.)
